VERSION 1 <br /> <br /> <br />PROCLAMATION <br /> OF THE <br />CITY OF UNIVERSITY CITY <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, David Harris is a highly successful international musician from <br />University City, now living with his wife and two children outside of Boston; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, David Harris was a 1976 graduate of University City High School and <br />an active participant in their music program, in particular, the Jazz Band; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, his training was completed at the New England Conservatory and <br />David Harris now leads, composes and plays the trombone for the avant-garde Jazz <br />Composers Alliance; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, featured music of David Harris has been on sound tracks for television <br />commercials and in movies as “Opposite of Sex”, “Stranger Among Us” and in Woody <br />Allen’s “Deconstructing Harry”; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, David Harris has twice won the Massachusetts Fellowship for <br />Composition award and has performed in renowned clubs, pops, institutes and festivals <br />through-out the world; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, I, Joseph L. Adams, Mayor of the City of University City, along <br />with the Councilmembers of University City do hereby honor David Harris for his support <br />and participation in the Arts and Letters Commission’s Returning Artist Series, to share <br /> his <br />musical talent with school children, and do hereby declare March 22, 2007, as <br /> <br /> <br />DAVID HARRIS’ DAY <br /> <br />and invite the citizens of University City to the public reception, 7-9 pm Thursday, <br />March 22, 2007, in University City’s City Hall. <br /> <br /> <br />nd <br /> Presented this 22 day of March, 2007. <br />___________________________________ <br />Joseph L.
