INTRODUCED BY: Mr. Glickert DATE: January 12, 2015 <br /> BILL NO. 9249 ORDINANCE NO. 6978 <br /> AN ORDINANCE CREATING A NEW SECTION 210.120 OF CHAPTER <br /> 210 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE CITY OF UNIVERSITY CITY, <br /> MISSOURI ENACTING AND ADOPTING "INTERFERENCE AND/OR <br /> ABUSE OF A POLICE SERVICE ANIMAL". <br /> WHEREAS, the City wishes to enact an ordinance ensuring the safety and <br /> protection of the City's police dog in its capacity as a police service animal. <br /> BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br /> UNIVERSITY CITY, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> Section 1. A new Section 210.120 of Chapter 210 of the University City Municipal <br /> Code, "Interference and/or abuse of a Police Service Animal", is hereby enacted, which <br /> shall read as follows: <br /> Section 210.120 - Interference and/or abuse of a police service animal. <br /> A. It shall be unlawful to: <br /> 1. Cause bodily injury or death to a police service animal; <br /> 2. Engage in any conduct likely to cause bodily injury or death to a police service <br /> animal; <br /> 3. Lay out, place or administer any poison, trap, substance or object which is likely <br /> to cause bodily injury or death to a police service animal; <br /> 4. Taunt, torment, strike or otherwise assault a police service animal; <br /> 5. Throw any object or substance at, or in the path of a police service animal; <br /> 6. Interfere with or obstruct a police service animal or attempt such interference or <br /> obstruction; <br /> 7. Interfere with a handler in such a manner as to inhibit, restrict or deprive the <br /> handler of his or her control of a police service animal; <br /> 8. Release a police service animal from its area of control or to trespass within such <br /> area; <br />
