WHEREAS, Olive Boulevard is in need of additional enhancements; and - L )///) <br />WHEREAS, a supporting resolution adopted by the City Council was passed on September 11, )0 <br />supporting an application for the 3~d round of Missouri Transportation Improvement Program funding; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, in a letter dated February 6, 2001, the City was notified by the East West Gate,way <br />Coordinating Council that the City had received approval for its $1.1 million grant funding request in <br />order to finance various improvements along Olive including streetscaping and a bike; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council deems it necessary to take advantage of every opportunity to improve the <br />streets and sidewalks of this City for the benefit of the many citizens throughout the metropolitan area and <br />State of Missouri who use, live, work, and visit the City on a daily basis; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the East West Gateway Coordinating Council is again requesting applications for the fourth <br />and final round of the Missouri Transportation Enhancement Program in which federal funds will be used <br />to reimburse projects up to 80% of the eligible project cost for the renovation and improvement of <br />infrastructure and facilities which are intended to benefit University City; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, federal reimbursement applications must include a supporting resolution adopted by the City <br />Council and must be included with the application which is due April 13,2001; and <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of University City, as follows: <br /> <br />That an application be made under the Transportation Enhancement Funds Program to assist in further <br />rehabilitation of Olive Boulevard with general boundaries from Skinker Boulevard to I-170. <br /> <br />The City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to execute the necessary documents for forwarding <br />said project applications. <br /> <br />Support the introduction of appropriate legislation to allow for the appropriation of City Matching Funds <br />upon the recommendation and approval of the projects by the East West Gateway Coordinating Council. <br /> <br />Introduced the 11th day of September 2000. <br /> <br />V:\WP5 IXADMIN\RESOLUTION-OLIVE BLVD #2.DOC <br /> <br /> <br />
