<br /> <br />Regular Meeting of the Park Commission <br />City of University City <br />January 24, 2006 <br />Heman Park Community Center <br /> <br />Vice President Mary Hart called the meeting to order at 6:36 p.m. Others present were: <br /> <br />Jerry Fitch Nancy MacCartney, Director <br />James Sutton Tracy Collins, Administrative Secretary <br />Charles Mosley Francine Brungardt, Council Liaison <br /> <br />Doyle Mitchell <br />Livingstone Sykes <br />Mary Hart <br />Carl Seltzer <br />Evelyn Irving <br /> <br />Excused: Ted Smorodin <br /> <br />Disposition of Minutes from November 22, 2005 <br />Correction: Mr. Fitch reported the fountains in Ruth Park should be replaced to <br />accommodate filling water bottles. Mr. Sutton motioned to accept minutes as read <br />with corrections noted. Mr. Doyle seconded. Passed unanimously <br /> <br />Citizen’s Comments on items not on Agenda <br />None <br /> <br />Council Liaison Report <br />Ms. Brungardt reported there were 75 candidates for the position of City Manager, <br />Council will be sending out letter to the community asking for input; City Hall <br />renovations continue; Council wanted to thank the Parks staff for their commitment to <br />getting Centennial Commons opened; Council has been receiving development <br />proposals; (3 ward) 2 candidates, (2 ward) 2 candidates and (1 ward) 2 <br />rdndst <br />candidates; 2 candidates for Mayor <br /> <br />Presentation on Pool Fees and Policies <br />Before presentation Vice President Mary Hart, thanked the Parks Department once <br />again for the hard work. Nancy gave a brief presentation of a review on pool fees and <br />policies. She showed stats on the weather, capacity, revenue, attendance and <br />memberships. Nancy was asked by Mr. Fitch if the non-resident lap swimmer were <br />strictly enforced, if not, why? Nancy responded by saying that the system was just <br />recently set up for memberships. Nancy was then asked by Ms. Irving if we were striving <br />for full capacity of the pool. Nancy responded by saying that the pool use is not close <br />to capacity. Mr. Fitch asked if the objective was pool capacity. Ms. MacCartney <br />responded by saying utilization is the objective. Mr. Fitch stated that in the presentation <br />it was shown that the decision was past unanimously by Commission, but it should have <br />should have stated that it was passed unanimously by present commission members. <br />Mr. Seltzer asked if number for weekend use were available and if so, what is the <br />difference. Nancy stated that she did and it was lower on the weekend/holidays than <br /> <br />
