Regular Meeting of the Park Commission City of University City January 22, 2008 Centennial Commons Vice President Mary Hart called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. Others present were: Caryn St Clair Arthur Sharpe Jr., Council Liaison Karen Dille Nancy MacCartney, Director of Parks Livingston Sykes Tracy Collins, Department Liaison Linda Peoples Karen Palmer Jerry Fitch John Sterbenz James Sutton Disposition of Minutes from November 27, 2007 Ms. St. Clair motioned to accept minutes as written. Mr. Fitch second, motion passed. Citizen’s Comments on items not on Agenda None Council Liaison Report Mr. Sharpe reported: Leaf sticker at Walgreens; 2/5/08 Vote; Automatic Recycling; Bulk pick up Long Range Planning – Public Input Process Ideas Ms. MacCartney briefly summarized her memo on Long Range Planning – Public Input Process she explained the plan will refer to recreation services mainly in the context of outdoor recreation facility needs. She gave examples of the two method staff had offered (A. A survey via internet; B. Public meetings). Included in the packet was a draft of a survey and asked for feedback. Commission Comments: Ms. Peoples wanted to know if the were going to be any comment space on survey. Ms. Dille wanted to know about sponsorships and publicizing survey. Mr. Fitch concern was multiple entries and to minimize them. Ms. Hart recommended small group planning. Ms. St. Clair recommended surveying the youth. Department Report Ms. MacCartney reported on: Woods Family $10,000 Donation; Munie Grant Recommendations; Pre-bid meeting; Bid opening 1/11; Youth Fitness Area; Budget; Trails Bridge In; Restroom Building; Golf Trac Individual Park Reports Ruth Park – Mr. Fitch reported the park looked beautiful and in excellent condition.
