<br /> <br />Regular Meeting of the Park Commission <br />City of University City <br />March 24, 2009 <br />Centennial Commons <br /> <br />President Livingston Sykes called the meeting to order at 6:31p.m. Others present were: <br /> <br />Caryn St Clair Nancy MacCartney, Director of Parks <br />John Sweeney Rivian Robinson, Department Staff Liaison <br />Karen Dille Lynda Euell-Taylor, Rec. Superintendent <br />Mary Hart <br />John Sterbenz <br />Jerry Fitch <br />John Sweeney <br />Excused Absence: <br /> Linda Peoples, Karen Palmer, Robert Wagner <br /> <br /> <br />Disposition of Minutes from February 24, 2009 <br />February minutes reviewed. President Sykes moves to change agenda item #6 to Unfinished Business rather than <br />Old Business. Mr. Sterbenz motion to approve, Ms. St. Clair seconds, all in agreement. President Sykes <br />approved minutes. <br /> <br />Citizen’s Comments on items not on Agenda <br />No citizens present. <br /> <br />Council Liaison Report <br /> <br />Mr. Wagner is absent. No council report. <br /> <br />Policy Revision for Use of Heman Park Community Center for Private Youth Events/Activities <br />New Policy and Procedures explained, reviewed, and discussed. All members understand and agree to changes to <br />policy. Ms. St. Clair moves to accept, Mr. Sterbenz seconds. Vote taken and all in favor. <br /> <br />Department Report <br />Ms. MacCartney reported on: <br /> <br /> Washington University has funded improvements for Ackert Walkway, Metcalf Park, and <br />Eastgate Park. There will be 2 groups involved in the process, 1 group of Stakeholders and 1 <br />Advisory Group. Nancy suggests that Caryn St. Clair and Jerry Fitch for Advisory Group and <br />Livingston Sykes for Stakeholder group. Jerry Fitch agreed to be on the Advisory Group and <br />Livingston as a Stakeholder. All are agreeable to assume suggested roles. <br /> <br /> Pool Entrapment Law- Westport Pools gave bid of $15,000 for repairs/improvements and work <br />has been authorized. <br /> <br /> Overview of Individual Park Reports, how and why they are done, given to new commission <br />member John Sweeney by Nancy MacCartney. <br /> <br />Individual Park Reports <br /> <br />Ruth Park Golf Course <br /> –Mr. Fitch reports that restrooms are great, fountain was installed Monday. <br />Kudos given to Don Humphrey for his outstanding work on the course. <br /> <br />Millar <br /> – Park is in good condition. Could use wood chips. <br /> <br />Rabe and Ackert <br /> - Noted that there are never people there at Rabe Park. Suggests something is needed to <br />draw people to the park. Miller needs wood chips but otherwise looks pretty good <br /> <br />Kaufman <br /> –Notes asphalt problem on North side and some minor cleanup is needed. <br /> <br />Mona Terrace <br /> - Park is in good condition but storm damage along trail still needs to be repaired. <br /> <br />Mooney <br /> - Park is fine at this time. <br /> <br />
