Date: February 5, 2003.

To: Members of the Traffic Commission

From: Mariela Tapia, Secretary of the Traffic Commission.

Re: February Traffic Commission Meeting

The next regularly scheduled meeting of the Traffic Commission is Wednesday, February 12,
EOC meeting room
2003 at 6:30 p.m. in the in the basement of the City Hall Annex building.

Most of the agenda items for this meeting are requests for Stop Signs. The recommendations of
the Engineering Division are based on the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices
(MUTCD 2000).

AGENDA FOR THE MEETING

1. Stop Signs for northbound Mt. Olive at Morgan

Please see the attached Traffic Request Form submitted by Larinda Moore dated January 29,

2003. She is requestingStop Signs for northbound Mt. Olive at Morgan. Also, she is requesting
a stop sign at the intersection of Groby and Mt. Olive to control the flow of traffic into that
intersection.

At these locations, exists a stop sign for westbound Morgan at Mt. Olive and a yield sign for
northbound Mt. Olive at Groby. See sketch attached.

For Mt. Olive and Groby, she stated that cars coming from all directions have met up at the
center of the intersection and have had close encounters with having an accident. According to
the Police Department, there was only one reported accident at Groby-Mt. Olive in the past 3
years (02/12/2000). However, the accident was minor in nature and no police report was
written.

For Mt. Olive and Morgan, she stated that there is a great chance of being side swiped by a car
racing down Mt. Olive. It is hard to see the cars coming down Mt. Olive unless you edge your
way out into the intersection. There was no reported accident at Mt. Olive-Morgan in the past 3
years.

Is the recommendation of the Engineering Division to deny the request for new stop signs on Mt.
Olive-Groby and Groby-Mt. Olive.

1
V:\WP51\Mariela-Projects\Traffic Commission\agenda\2003\Agenda 02-12-03.doc
