6801 Delmar Boulevard, University City, MO 63130 Phone: 314-862-6767,
Fax: (314) 862-0694

Date: August 23, 2007

To: Members of the Traffic Commission

From: Vic Lusher, Project Manager

Re: September 5, 2007 Traffic Commission Meeting

This is to inform you that the next Traffic Commission meeting is scheduled for Wednesday,
September 5, 2007 at 6:30 p.m. in the EOC Room (basement) at City Hall.

We recommend that you visit the sites to be discussed prior to the meeting. Please call
Sandy Weinberg at 505-8563 and advise her if you will not be attending the meeting.

AGENDA FOR THE MEETING

1.TRAFFIC CONTROL FOR THE MUSICK NEIGHBORHOOD

Please find attached a petition received by Jerry Sugerman dated August 7, 2007. Mr.
Sugerman states that the petition will be circulated among 7 blocks in the neighborhood.
They are requesting that the City install temporary barriers for a period of 6 months to
deter motorists who cut thru the neighborhood. They are also requesting the “no left turn”
signs be removed.

Currently, there are “no left turn signs” (7-9am and 4-6 p.m., M-F) for northbound Midland
at Melrose, at Wellington at Carleton and also for southbound Hanley at Melrose and
Wellington. These signs should be helpful in deterring motorists from cutting thru the
neighborhood.

The engineering division recommends that the existing no left turn signs be enforced.

2.REQUEST FOR STOP SIGN ON FULLERTON AVENUE AT KEMPLAND PLACE

Please find attached a request received from Beth Foster dated August 13, 2007. Ms

Foster is requesting a stop sign on Fullerton to prevent accidents at this intersection. She

said most cars driving on Fullerton fail to stop or even look to see if on-coming traffic is
going straight on Kempland Place past Fullerton.

Currently, there are no signs at this intersection. There is a 3-way stop sign at Fullerton
and Braddock, the intersection east of this one. There was 1 reported accident in the last
3 years in this area. The requested signs would not have prevented this accident (see
attached report).
1
V:\WP51\Public Works- Traffic Commission\Traffic Commission\agenda\2007\Agenda 09-5-07.doc
