f <br /> INTRODUCED BY: Mr. Sharpe DATE: August 12, 2013 <br /> f <br /> BILL NO. 9189 ORDINANCE NO. 6920 <br /> I <br /> AN ORDINANCE ADOPTING A NEW SECTION OF THE <br /> MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE CITY OF UNIVERSITY CITY, <br /> MISSOURI ESTABLISHING A COMMISSION ON YOUTH <br /> ISSUES AND PROVIDING FOR THE APPOINTMENT OF <br /> MEMBERS TO THIS COMMISSION. <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of University City desires to establish a <br /> Commission on Youth Issues and to provide for the appointment of members to such <br /> commissions, all as provided herein; <br /> i <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE <br /> CITY OF UNIVERSITY CITY, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> Section 1. Section 2.72, Commission on Youth Issues Created—Composition <br /> and Meetings, of Title 2, Administration and Personnel, of the Municipal Code of the <br /> City of University City, Missouri, is hereby enacted, to read as follows: <br /> Section 2.72 Commission on Youth Issues Created— <br /> Composition and Meetings <br /> A. The overall purpose of the Youth Commission is to give a voice to <br /> the University City youth (ages 14-21) and to serve in an advisory <br /> capacity to City Council about policies, programs and actions that affect <br /> youth and their families. Through this work, the eighteen (18) member <br /> Commission will be influential in ensuring that decisions that affect young <br /> people have been carefully considered and incorporate their concerns and <br /> perspectives. The Commission will work to bridge the gap between adults <br /> and youth, fostering a greater sense of unity, communication and <br /> partnership throughout the city. <br /> Additionally, the Commission of Youth will identify, promote, and <br /> provide advice on improving and increasing diverse services and <br /> programming for young people and their families.
