<br />SESSION 1579 <br /> <br />MINUTES OF '!HE UNIVERSITY CI'IY CXXJNCIL <br /> <br />October 19, 1992 <br /> <br />At a regular IOOetirg of the city Council of University City held in the As- <br />sembly Room of City Hall on Momay, October 19, 1992, Mayor Janet Majerus <br />presided and called the neetirg to order at 7:30 p.m. In addition to the <br />Mayor, the followirg members of the Council were present: <br /> <br />Mr. Byron R. Price <br />Mr. J~ L. Adams, Jr. <br />Mr. Rebert G. Wagner <br />Mrs. Mary v. Schmnan <br />Mr. PaulE. Schoaner <br />Mrs. Betty L. '1hoot:Json <br /> <br />Also present was City Manager Frank Ollerrlorff. <br /> <br />MINUTES <br /> <br />Mr. Price m:wed approval of the October 5, 1992, minutes as submitted. Mr. <br />Adams secorrled the motion, which carried unaniIrously. <br /> <br />AProINIMENT <br /> <br />Mayor Majerus m:wed the appoinbnent of Mrs. Mary S. (Polly) Guth, 7030 North- <br />moor, to the Municipal Canmission on Arts and Letters. Mr. Wagner secorrled <br />the motion, and all voted Aye. <br /> <br />REroRI' - WASHINGIDN UNIVE:RSITY SIUDENl' REPRESENTATIVE <br /> <br />Ms. Michelle Brodsky, washington University student liaison to the City Coun- <br />cil, said the first of three presidential debates was held at the Fieldhouse <br />on October 11 and was very successful. She said at least 350 students either <br />registered for the first time or changed their residency to Missouri in order <br />to vote here November 3rd. She listed several speakers who are scheduled to <br />give talks or seminars in the next few weeks. <br /> <br />PR.OCI:AMATION <br /> <br />Mayor Majerus called attention to a proclamation that designates October 24- <br />November 2, 1992 Red Ribbon Week. in University City. Mr. Schoo.rrer m:wed ap- <br />proval, with Mr. Adams secorrlinJ the motion. All voted Aye. Mayor Majerus <br />announced there will be a special kickoff ceremony at 3 p.m. on SUrrlay, 0cto- <br />ber 25th at the Community Center featurirg Mary Phelan of Channel 4. '!he <br />Mayor urged all to atterrl. <br /> <br />Mr. Ollerrlorff said University City and many other fire deparbnents will par- <br />ticipate in a national fire drill on Saturday, October 24th, by sounding si- <br />rens, whistles, bells, etc. to remirrl citizens to change their clocks back to <br />stamard Time and to change the batteries in their srroke alanns. <br />
