NO. <br /> <br />8312 <br /> <br />INTRODUCED BY COUNCILMEMBERMUNKEL <br /> <br />ORDINANCE NO. <br /> <br />6094 <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 34 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF <br />THE CITY OF UNIVERSITY CITY, RELATING TO ZONING, AND ARTICLE <br />IX, RELATING TO SPECIAL HISTORIC LANDMARKS AND DISTRICTS, <br />AND ENACTING THEREIN A NEW SECTION TO BE KNOWN AS <br />"SECTION 34-128. PURCELL AVENUE SUGARBERRY TREE HISTORIC <br />LANDMARK"; SO AS TO ESTABLISH THE PURCELL AVENUE <br />SUGARBERRY TREE AS AN HISTORIC LANDMARK. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Chapter 34 of the Municipal Code of the City of University City (University <br />City Zoning Code) divides the City into several zoning districts, and regulates the uses to which <br />the premises located therein may be put; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Historic Preservation Commission, after due notice and hearing, has <br />revised and approved the proposed revision of said article; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Article IX thereof provides for Special Historic Landmarks and Districts; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City Plan Commission, after a hearing, reviewed proposed revision to <br />said article; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, due notice of a public hearing to be held by the City Council in the Council <br />Chambers at City Hall, at 7:30 p.m. on the 16th day of December , 1996, was duly <br />published in the St. Louis Countian, a newspaper of general circulation within said City; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, said public hearing was duly held at the time and place specified in said <br />notice, and all suggestions or objections concerning said revisions to said article were duly heard <br />and considered by the Council; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, there are located within the City of University City sites of historic <br />significance and historic values; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Chapter 89, Revised Statutes of Missouri, provides that the legislative body <br />of a city is empowered for the purpose of promoting the health, safety, morals, or general welfare <br />of the community to appropriate funds, promulgate regulations and adopt standards for the <br />preservation of features of historical significance, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of University City is desirous of preserving features of historical <br />significance. <br /> <br /> <br />
