Welcome to the University City website. University City has been described as the "Queen City of St. Louis County." This is a city with a great degree of diversity. We are one of the most desirable cities to live in the St. Louis metropolitan area. University City has an outstanding variety of housing mixed with strong neighborhoods offering multiple family apartments, condominiums and single family housing. We have the most active downtown entertainment and restaurant district in the St. Louis region. Cities in this region are always looking to duplicate our success. We are next to the County government seat and Washington University. Many professors and students call University City home. We are a city of parks and civic pride. University City has the most parks acreage per mile and residents. Exceptional parks and recreation facilities from our municipal golf course to the fitness center to indoor soccer facilities are just a number of our parks amenities. U City in Bloom is a citizen directed and run program which provides the entire University City area with beautiful gardens and plantings. These brilliant splashes of color and life, which can be found in many areas of the city, have become the city's new image. Along with being a Tree City USA, we are also the flower city of the area. University City is the crossroads for local transportation. This city has great connection to the region's public transit system with a planned light rail extension that will soon be serving the residents. Connection to the interstate system gives quick access to the airport. University City is just minutes from downtown St. Louis and also to the world renown Forest Park. The community has many excellent schools, and a variety of churches and synagogues to offer families. Not only is University City a great place to raise a family, it is a marvelous place to come for good food and entertainment. Take a walk down to the Loop area, have lunch at one of our many excellent restaurants, watch a movie at the Tivoli, reminisce down the Walk of Fame, take in a craft exhibit, or listen to a music concert. As you can see, there is so much to do in University City. I welcome you to come and visit us.
