Session 1808
April 23, 2001

none of them are good for Parkview. She wished to urge the Council to keep up their
determination to get as much of this thing underground, as possible and whatever else
is necessary to protect Parkview property. It is not too late.

Thomas Knoten, 6363 Pershing, stated the same concerns as Ms. Little. Mr. Knoten
urged the Council to be aware of the historical significance of the Parkview subdivision
and not give up on trying to keep MetroLink from harming their properties.

Mr. Lieberman responded that building a wall and fence would create a dark corridor.
He recommends that Council continue to follow-up with Bi-State, because there are
several issues that have not been resolved and Council should make sure that Bi-State
is aware of the consequences of their actions. He asked that Paul Marsh's letter be
made part of tonight's minutes.

Mr. Schoomer stated that one of the goals was to get MetroLink underground/below
grade. The City has no legal authority over Bi-State and not any financial hold over
them neither, but the Council will continue to work on them.

Mayor Adams noted that he and Mr. Ollendorff do periodically meet with Bi-State and
they will do what they can to continue negotiations.

Responding to Mr. Lieberman, Mr. Ollendorff stated that he did not know if Bi-State
planned to move the Hanley Station to Forysth, but that whatever happens, they just
want it below grade.

BILLS FOR INTRODUCTION:

1. A bill was introduced by Mr. Schoomer, entitled:

AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 34 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF
UNIVERSITY CITY RELATING TO ZONING DISTRICTS ESTABLISHED PURSUANT
TO SECTION 34-22 THEREOF, AND ENACTING IN LIEU THEREOF A NEW
OFFICIAL ZONING MAP, THEREBY AMENDING SAID MAP SO AS TO CHANGE
THE CLASSIFICATION OF PROPERTY AT THE REAR (NORTH) FIFTY (50) FEET OF
8655 WEST KINGSBURY FROM "SR" - SINGLE FAMILY RESIDENTIAL DISTRICT,
TO "HRO" - HIGH DENSITY RESIDENTIAL DISTRICT; CONTAINING A SAVINGS
CLAUSE AND PROVIDING A PENALTY.

The bill was given its first reading and assigned number 8518.

12
