Session 1810 - Budget Meeting
May 14, 2001

back. The sense of Council was to keep all gas money. Mr. Ollendorff reported that
the City Attorney was about to go out in suit to try and get the cell phone companies to
pay us telephone taxes. We increased refuse collection last year, so he doesn't
suggest anymore increases here. The sales tax revenues are forecasted to drop about
7% basically because of the census change.

10,10 LEGISLATIVE SERVICES:

The budget includes enough money for a 3% cost of living wage adjustment. Specifics
will be discussed at another meeting. Health insurance is the most costly fringe benefit.
The budget includes a 5% cost increase. Bids are being turned in to Mr. Norfleet
currently and it looks as if we are going to need to include 15% more for health
insurance.

On C-4, 729.10 is $20,000 for U. City in Bloom.

On C-5, 729.14 Election Costs is $10,000 for the April 2002 municipal general election.
Any extra elections would have to have additional money budgeted.

10.11 PERSONNEL:

Mr. Ollendorff said that there was nothing unusual in this budget. They budgeted
$2,000 for some computer upgrades and software.

10.12 ADMINISTRATION:

Mr. Ollendorff stated that the breakdown for 721.10 was $35,000 for Sr. Service Center,
$4,000 for Arts and Letters Commission and $72,100 for UCRS. Ms. Colquirt reported
that they want the City to help pay for one of the art exhibits in City Hall in honor of
Darwin Portman. They would like at least $3,000. The total project is $6,000. Mayor
Adams would like to see a proposal before discussing it further. Mayor Adams said that
we also need to think about how to budget and help the Historical Society as we plan
for the 100th Anniversary of the City. UCRS would like to have $77,000, but we
budgeted 3% or 72,100. Council asked to have this item held for further discussion.

On the bottom of C-11, change the name of Advanced Clerk Typist to Administrative
Secretary. 726.32 - The police cadet program has dropped form 1 full time and 2 part
time cadets. They are dropping one part time cadet, because of a longstanding
vacancy.

2
