Session 1810 - Budget Meeting
May 14, 2001

The biggest need is that we need to replace the aerial ladder truck, which is estimated
to be about $650,000. Ours is currently 20 years old. We will probably will have to
borrow the money to pay for it, either a bond issue or a lease purchase agreement.
The current truck has had systems replaced a few times over the years and it is now
not feasible to continue doing this. We will sell the current truck.

Responding to Mr. Munkel, Mr. Ollendorff said that we set aside a reserve for
everything else in the Fire Department except the aerial ladder truck, because
$650,000 is just impossible for us to save. The other vehicles are usually replaced
more frequently, like every six to eight years and it makes sense to have a reserve set
aside, but not for a twenty year item. We will probably need to start looking at this
during the summer.

MISCELLANEOUS:

Responding to Mr. Lieberman, Mr. Ollendorff said that Rebuilding Together's proposal
would be looked at during the summer, because they are requesting $15,000
Community Block Grant Development funds. CDBG allocation is looked at then and it
is not part of the General Fund budget.

As far as the Green Center's request for park planning money, there are some funds
budgeted in this year's budget for this purpose, but not to the level that they would hope
for - which was $30,000. Mr. Wagner stated that they asked us to hire a consultant to
help us with a master plan so we could be in a position to get some of the new regional
sales tax money. Mr. Ollendorff replied that we will not need the detailed master plan
that the Green Center is claiming we need to get the park grant money.

ADJOURNMENT

Mayor Adams adjourned the meeting at 8:36 p.m. The next budget meeting is
Wednesday, May 16, 2001 at 7:00 p.m.

5
