She said the Council appreciated the Treesavers' concern in <br />trying to ~ th/s measure on the ballot at a regularly scheduled election, <br />which will cost the city less than if a special election had to be scheduled. <br />In response to Mr. T~hocky, the Mayor said the bill putting this measure on <br />the ballot rec~.~es three readings at two meetings, but t~ere was enough time <br />before the elect/on for this to ocoor. <br /> <br />Mr. Alex Feldman, 1233 Backer, said he would like to see a strengthening of <br />the gun laws in University city. He no,md there, were a number of measures and <br />safety precautions that can be taken t~) protect residents against guns. Mr. <br />Ollendorff said most citizens would agree with Mr. Feldman, h~;ever, the M/s- <br />scuri Legislature has passed a bill tb2~t bars l~al governments from passing <br />gun laws that are stricter than those passed by the state.
