Session 1505, Minutes Page 6 <br />Oc~__~k~r 16, 1989 <br /> <br />In ~ to Mr. Price, Mr. Ollendor~.f sa~d.t~.ere might be a situation where <br />it would be advantageous to have a resident/living on c~,m~rcial property, and <br />Council could choose to allow this. He s~gested that each case had its own <br />merits and should be considered separately. <br /> <br />verLl.er'~...fa, clllty for a .watchm~n.. for this b~lding without changing the zoning <br />or pernll.~.~, a .perma~nlt. residence. Mr. ~llendorff said he did not believe <br />that particular provision was available in ~ zoning category, ma he asked <br />Mr. A1 Goldman, Director of Plann~g, to c~,~,ent. Mr. Goldman said he knew of <br />no such provision in the Limited Commercial !District; in addition, the tenant <br />would not be functioning as a watchman since! he wouldn't be there every night. <br /> <br />Mrs. ThoiL~son said she a.gre~, with Mr. SchoOner, and suggested that the matter <br />be ~bled until it is determ/ned if the tenaht could stay as a caretaker. She <br />moved to table. %he motion died for lack of! a second. <br /> <br />Ms. Dorothy Gardner, 7018 Dover Court, ope~tor of the beauty salon on the <br />p£uperty under discussion, asked Council nOt to deny this request since she <br />felt the tenant would help prevent vandaliS~ and other crimes. She noted he <br />was not there constantly since he traveled as a musician, but when he w~s <br />there he protected the place and kept it clean. <br /> <br />In response to Mr. Price, Mr. Kay described !the apartment and said he planned <br />to spend at least $5000 to bring the bu/ldibg up to Code. He ~s willing to <br />accept the small amount of rent the tenant lwas paying in order to have some <br />security for the building, he said.
