He noted that a representative of Unitog would be at the
next public hearing on the budget to ~%sk the City to fund scme improvements in
Eastg~te Park, along with. additional lighting there. In response to Mrs.
Schuman, Mr. Ollendorff said the amo~u%t under. 742.08 Parking Lots, Driveways
and Tennis Courts would fund renovation of the Kaufman Park tennis courts.

3520 Parks and Recreation - Golf Course (Daqe C-72). Mr. Ollendorff said a
third full-time worker would be added at the golf course nex~ year, but there
would be a reduction in part-time ~t~loyme~nt. Under 721.10 Miscellaneous Out-
side ~ Services, there should be a reduction fr~m $44,736 to $38,136,
and an increase fa~tt $1,305 to $5,000 for 714.0 Overtime, both of which re-
s~ltak~ f~utt, the City's not reaching a~ agreement with the golf professional to
do certain mainter~r~e iter~s. Also, 711.1 Re9%llar Em~loyees Pay should be
changed fa~tt $54,088 to $56,000. Mrs. Schuman noted that even though projec-
tions for rounds of golf played (page C-71) have gone up, revenue projections
went down. Mr. Ollendorff said it was weather related and also he w~s budget-
lng a little more co ~nservatively than in the past. Mr. Wagner called atten-
tion to 725.02 Electricity and 725.04 Water, beth of which were projected to
more than double for 1989-90. Mr. Ollendorff said that %fas due mainly to in-
stallation costs of the new watering system, which will be amortized over the
next several years, but after that, electric costs will decrease.

3530 Parks and l~c~eation - Recreation (Daqe C-76). Mr. Ollendorff said the
changes in this budget f~t last year were those approved by Council last De-
cember, prior to printing the summer recreation pin,ram booklet. Mrs. Schuman
asked for the amount of revenue generated by the summer progr~m, and }~. O1-
lendorff said he would get that for her.

3540 Parks and Recreation - Co~nunity Center (paqe C-80). Mr. Ollendorff said
the Cutt~ttdnity Center supervisor would retire in several weeks, and the City
will do some reorganizing which will not result in much savings, but should
place people where they are most needed. He said changes should be made in
the foll~ing areas--721.10 M/scellaneous Outside Personal Services should be
changed flu, $8,400 to $400 and 711.1 Regular Employees Pay should be changed
frc~ $22,793 to $36,793. Mr. Wagner ?~id the Center looks mud~ nicer than it
did a year or so ago, but it should have still more plants.

3550 Parks and ~t~reation - Swimmin~ Pool (Daqe C-84). The City Manager said
during very busy periods last ~, unifola~sd police personnel were ~sed to
provide security, and funds for that were inadvertently omitted in nex~c year's
budget, so 713.0 Temporary and Part-tJ/~e Employees Pay should be changed frc~
$42,745 to $45,745. %~ne swimming pool was discussed, and it was noted that,
following an unsuccessful attempt to try to make the shallow end of the pool
shallower with the use of a platform, the Park C~t~ssion vetoed anything fur-
ther being done, mostly because of the exorbitant cost involved.

3570 Parks add Re~£=ation - Soccer (Daqe C-88). Mr. Olle~orff distributed a
report f~t, the University City Sports Association, which has taken over the
operation of the soccer program.
