Session 1813
June 4, 2001

Responding to Mr. Lieberman, Mr. Ollendorff replied that a sticker would be issued
upon approved inspection. Without the sticker, the trucks will still be ticketed. Mr.
Ollendorff said that they count on the news media to help publicize Council decisions.
The next CityScape will note it, as well.

Mr. Wagner noted that the sticker is not a change; the change is that you will not have
to come back every year and pay another $25. We are relieving the residents of the
burden of the annual inspection, which he felt was very onerous.

Mr. Schoomer suggested that the City Manager send a letter to everyone that we have
ticketed on this item. He also suggested using axle length and width of the vehicle from
the curb as a measure to look at, since the size of a vehicle could impede the right-of-
way of emergency vehicles. Mr. Wagner does not believe Mr. Schoomer's question has
anything to do with this ordinance. Mr. Schoomer acknowledges this, but still would like
to see this looked into.

The bill was given its second reading.
The bill was given its third reading.

Mr. Wagner moved approval. Mr. Sharpe seconded the motion.

The roll call vote was as follows: AYES: Mr. Wagner, Mr. Lieberman, Mr. Schoomer, Mr.
Sharpe, Mr. Munkel and Mayor Adams. NAYS: Ms. Colquitt. Bill number 8528 passed
and became Ordinance number 6304.

BILL NO. 8529 - AMENDING CHAPTER 5.84 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE,
RELATING TO TELEPHONE AND TELEGRAPH COMPANIES, BY ENACTING
A NEW SECTION 5.84.0'15, TELEPHONE SERVICE DEFINED," CONTAINING
A SAVING CLAUSE.

The bill was given its second reading.
The bill was given its third reading.

Mr. Sharpe moved approval. Mr. Munkel seconded the motion.

Responding to Mr. Lieberman, Mr. Ollendorff said that there are two bills relating to
telephone service that add definitions to clarify what a telephone service is.
Telephones includes many different types of devices and we wanted to make sure they
were all included.

11
