D. Effective July 1, 2000, all retirees who retired prior to December 31, 1999, <br /> and whose employment terminated after they became eligible for <br /> retirement pursuant to this chapter, and their beneficiaries other than <br /> children, shall receive a monthly benefits increase of the greater of five <br /> percent or forty dollars ($40.00), provided such retirees and beneficiaries <br /> were receiving benefits as of July 1, 2000. <br /> E. Effective July 1, 2003, all retirees who retired prior to January 1, 2003, <br /> and whose employment terminated after they became eligible for <br /> retirement pursuant to this chapter, and their beneficiaries other than <br /> children, shall receive a monthly benefits increase of twenty dollars <br /> ($20.00), provided such retirees and beneficiaries were receiving benefits <br /> as of January 1, 2003. <br /> F. Effective July 1, 2007, all retirees who retired prior to January 1, 2007, <br /> and whose employment terminated after they became eligible for <br /> retirement pursuant to this chapter, and their beneficiaries other than <br /> children, shall receive a monthly benefits increase of twenty-five dollars <br /> ($25.00), provided such retirees and beneficiaries were receiving benefits <br /> as of January 1, 2007. <br /> 2.64.450 Benefits on Termination other than Retirement or Death <br /> Any employee who has completed ten years of service with the city and who <br /> thereupon separates from employment for reason other than death is entitled to <br /> pension benefits from the fund payable at the employee's normal service <br /> retirement date in lieu of receiving the employee's accumulated contribution to the <br /> fund. The retirement benefits shall be calculated as for normal service retirement <br /> but based on the employee's years of creditable service and final average <br /> compensation as of the date of employee's separation. Such employee must notify <br /> the board of his or her desire to retain a vested interest in the fund within thirty <br /> (30) days of employee's separation from employment with the city. The form and <br /> manner of employee's later application for retirement benefits will be identical to <br /> that prescribed in this chapter for employees making a normal service retirement. <br /> 2.64.460 Reserved <br /> 2.64.470 Vesting of Benefits <br /> A. A member shall have a 100% Vested Interest in his or her accrued benefit <br /> upon reaching normal or early retirement age prior to termination of <br /> employment, death or disability. <br /> B.
