Questions, Comments, and Discussion:

-Commission members discussed and asked about the proposed exterior renovations to some of
the building elements such as windows, masonry, fire escapes, porches, and stairs. Mr. Leipziger
stated that, per the National Park Service requirements, all existing windows that are wooden
will be replaced with custom wooden windows, as well as windows on facades considered to be
a dominant façade. Windows that are on non-dominant facades were allowed to be replaced with
aluminum. The fire escapes must be kept per NPS requirements, even though they would not be
a means of egress. Some of the parapets must be rebuilt and the masonry was to be cleaned and
repainted as necessary. Regarding the steel rear porches and stairs, they would be replaced and
with a picket design, rather than the current chain-link. The stained glass windows were
proposed to remain and storm window patterns would match existing. The interior of the
buildings would be completely gutted.

A motion was made by Mr. Chilton to recommend approval of the proposed renovations to the
buildings as submitted. The motion was seconded by Mr. Wesenberg and carried unanimously.

5. Other Business

5.a. Public Comments

There were no further public comments.

6.
