? <br /> Our "in-school" officers are attending the parent/teacher conferences held at <br />Barbara Jordan, Brittany Woods Middle School, and the high school on <br />Tuesday and Thursday of this week to hand out the attached letter to parents <br />outlining the concerns and the need of their assistance; <br />? <br /> Council Member Price is working with City staff and the Superintendent's <br />staff to hold a forum for all citizens, students, and parents to attend and <br />discuss the issues of youth recreating in the streets of our city; <br />? <br /> The School District has agreed to distribute the attached letter along with <br />notice of the forum through its student as a take home item for their parents; <br />? <br /> Simultaneously, the Department will distribute flyers regarding a public forum <br />to be held at one of the schools in affected neighborhoods where complaints <br />have been noted; and <br />? <br /> Once the forum has occurred, Police will increase neighborhood patrols <br />regarding notifications of blocking or recreating in the streets, i.e. basketball <br />goals, games, other activities. <br /> <br /> <br />Spring Arts Festival <br />Sunday, May 6 the Green Center is hosting a from 2:00 to <br />5:00 PM. Join your neighbors at The Green Center for an afternoon of arts <br />activities, music and fun! Poet and performer Surreal Sista (Stephanie Williams) <br />will lead workshops for youth and families on writing poetry that interweaves the <br />social and scientific. Musicians from the University City High School jazz band <br />will perform outside in the gardens surrounding our headquarters. Also on display <br />will be artwork created by Flynn Park students as part of their on-going <br />collaboration with the Green Center.
