The first step toward implementing the Centennial Greenway is the formal adoption of the Plan by The Great Rivers Greenway District Board. The Plan provides the framework for developing <br />the detail design for specific components of the Centennial Greenway. It also includes, in supplementary form, recommendations for easements, land acquisition, alliances and a conceptual <br />budget. Having participated in the process of developing the Plan, the jurisdictions through which the Centennial Greenway The phasing approach outlined in the Plan provides a general <br />guide to the implementation of the Centennial Greenway by prioritizing each segment over time. Once completed, the Centennial Greenway will be entirely off-street and will create new <br />pedestrian access to numerous acres of open space. In the interim, the Plan outlines short-term, on-street links between segments as they are developed. The Phasing Plan considers <br />immediate opportunities, coordination with related projects <br />Three phases are defined, and divide the implementation into five year increments. Great Rivers Greenway has identified 2006 and 2007 primarily as a Design Phase, with several key components <br />of the Centennial to be engineered to a construction ready Forest Park to Vernon Road in University City; Olive Boulevard from McKnight Road in University City to Price Road in Olivette; <br />Phase Two will complete the Centennial Greenway from Ackert Walk at Vernon Road through University City to the intersection Phase Three will complete the Centennial Greenway by linking <br />Woodson Park in Overland with the eastern end of the Ameren <br />Phase One will establish greenway segments in the east, central and west reaches of the study area.
