At the west end of Ruth Woods, the Centennial Greenway will intersect with McKnight Road, turn north to Olive Boulevard and follow the north side of Olive through the Interstate 170
interchange into Olivette. The right-of-way is narrow throughout this segment causing the Centennial Greenway to have a more urban character and share the local sidewalks. The interchange
will be reconstructed by the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) beginning in the summer of 2006 with completion anticipated in 2008. The segment from McKnight Boulevard in
University City to Price Road in Olivette has been designed in detail and coordinated with the MoDOT interchange construction documents. Pedestrian activated warning signals are incorporated
into the Centennial Greenway at the north and south bound vehicular ramps on to I-170, and pedestrian crossings include colored and textured concrete pavement. The urban streetscape
will be consistent in width and character throughout
the Olive Boulevard segment, but details of the streetscape, such as tree species and lighting, are specific to each city.
The Centennial Greenway includes an important north-south component that will connect from Shaw Park in Clayton to Greensfelder Park in University City following I-170, utilizing the
rail corridor on the east side of the highway. The North-South Corridor is described in greater
detail later in this section.
