Session 1820
September 19, 2001

MISCELLANEOUS COMMENTS:

Mr. Lieberman noted, as CALOP liaison, that he had heard that Mr. Wagner's last
appointment to CALOP, Patricia Hatchett, had discovered a conflict and would not be
able to serve on this commission after all. This commission is having trouble meeting
quorum. Mr. Lieberman also noted a letter received by Charter Communication offering
their cooperation in this difficult economic time after the attacks of September 11'h. He
would like the City draft a letter to them calling their attention to this letter and to remind
them about our ordinance regarding the CALOP commission. We do need another
appointment to the CALOP commission from Charter Communications in order to
satisfy the requirements of the ordinance. We need a fuller commission.

Mr. Wagner stated that in U. City more than most other cities we have a proud heritage
of respect and tolerance for human diversity. In these unsettled times, when our nation
is still reeling from the recent grievous attacks on all humanity that we witnessed on
September 11,2001, he hopes that we, here in U. City, remember who we are and
continue to respect and protect all our neighbors regardless of their religious and ethnic
origin.

Ms. Colquitt wanted to give her appreciation to the police department officers and fire
department officers who did such a superb job responding the bus accident at the
Canton/Midland intersection. The driver of the car was banged up pretty good. The
children were not hurt; just scared.

Mr. Schoomer, along with Mr. Lieberman wished everyone, in Hebrew, a happy, healthy
and prosperous New Year.

A MOMENT OF SILENCE:

Mayor Adams called for a few moments of reflection and silence for the events that
occurred on September 11'h. These attacks profoundly affected us in this
nation. We are living in troubled times. There are a few people in New York City that
are missing that used to be former U. City residents. We hold them all in our hearts and
prayers.

ADJOURNMENT:

Mayor Adams announced that the next Council meeting was scheduled for Monday,
October 8, 2001 at 7:30 p.m. The Mayor noted that Council goes back to business attire
on October the 8th. The meeting adjourned at 7~55 p.m.

Leisha Meine Forsythe, City CIl~rk

7
