Session 1829
January 7, 2002

RELATING TO RULES OF THE ROAD, BY ENACTING THEREIN A NEW
SECTION TO BE KNOWN AS "SECTION 10.16.370 HIGHWAY
CONSTRUCTION OR WORK ZONES DEFINED, MOTOR VEHICLE MOVING
VIOLATIONS, PENALTY:" CONTAINING A SAVING CLAUSE AND PROVIDING
A PENALTY.

The bill was given its first reading and assigned bill number 8582.

MISCELLANEOUS COMMENTS:

Mr. Munkel stated that the University City Police Department has been reaccredited by
the Commission on Accredited Law Enforcement Agencies. He thinks that this speaks
well of the caliber of people we have serving in the police department.

Concerning Bills 8578 and 8579, after September 11th, we know the risks our police and
firefighters take in a new awareness. The bill takes care of our police and fire
employees, as well as our non-uniformed employees. We need to do this for our
employees.

Mr. Schoomer said that the Council should take note of the passing last week of the
Helen Millar, widow of former Mayor, David Millar. A moment of silence followed.

Mr. Sharpe wished to take this opportunity to wish all of our citizens a safe and happy
new year. He hopes that all of the issues brought to the Council can be done so in a
spirit of positive cooperation.

EXECUTIVE SESSION:

Mr. Wagner moved to adjourn to executive session under RSmo 610.021 (1) to discuss
legal matters. Mr. Munkel seconded the motion. The meeting will be in Room 6, 2®
floor of City Hall at 8:00 p.m.. The roll call vote was as follows: AYES: Ms. Colquitt, Mr.
Munkel, Mr. Wagner, Mr. Lieberman, Mr. Schoomer, Mr. Sharpe and Mayor Adams.
NAYS: none.

ADJOURNMENT:

Mayor Adams announced that the next Council meeting would be on Monday, January
28, 2002 at 7:30 p.m. /'~

Leisha Meine Forsythe, City Cle~
