<br />The City’s Finance Director Ms. Watson gave a brief explanation of the changes made in <br />the proposed budget to reflect a balanced budget for FY 2008. Ms. Watson said the total <br />revenue for FY 08 was estimated to be $42,998,746 and the total expenditures were <br />estimated to be $37,555,274 with a 16.9% Undesignated Fund Balance. <br /> <br /> <br />CITIZEN COMMENTS <br />Pat Lawrence 6743 Etzel <br />Ms. Lawrence requested the University City to be smart with its assets by not eliminating <br />the present good services. She felt University City could do a better job of marketing the <br />pool to employees of local businesses, senior citizens, new residents and area churches. <br /> <br />Lloyd Lawrence, 6743 Etzel <br />Mr. Lawrence said the pool has offered him the opportunity for exercise giving him <br />therapeutic relief. He does not want overcrowding of the pool, preventing his ability to <br />exercise. <br /> <br />Richard Docket, 6044 Crest Ave. <br />Mr. Dockett requested the increase of capitalization for the implementation of the <br />Northeast Revitalization Plan <br /> <br />nd <br />Worth Hayes, 1541 82 St. <br />Mr. Hayes presented a petition with over 100 names of residents interested in keeping the <br />Natatorium open for public swim use. The petition handed to the City Clerk stated “We, <br />the undersigned residents of University City, are vehemently opposed to changing the <br />current Heman Park Swim Pool policy for single admission non-residents. We oppose <br />changing the 10 pass to a 20 pass. Furthermore, we vigorously oppose the proposed <br />dropping City-sponsored swim time at the Natatorium.” <br /> <br />Wilma Kinnell, 1332 Purdue <br />Ms. Kinnell was against opening the pool to outside residents. She felt overcrowded pools <br />would raise the bacterial level found in public pools. She proposed saving money by <br />having trash pick-up every two weeks with mandatory recycling. <br /> <br />Lolly Boettcher,1442 Lindale Ave. <br />Ms. Boettcher said the recreational complex where she came from was open to outside <br />membership and within two years it became overcrowded and dirty. She said that a <br />swimmer could not find a lap lane open in which to swim. Ms. Boettcher was against <br />outside membership and the inevitable overcrowding of the pool. <br /> <br />Ed McCarthy, 7101 Princeton Ave. <br />Mr. McCarthy spoke against getting revenue from the use of red-light cameras. He <br />thought the golf course fees were at their limit now as far as being marketable. Mr. <br />McCarthy was against the $40 charge for use of the sewer lateral program and the City’s <br />charge listed for the personnel involved. <br /> <br />Mary Ann Zaggy, 6303 McPherson <br />Ms. Zaggy said the pool and natatorium needed support of personnel who were familiar <br />with aquatic operations. She also felt the City lacked a good marketing program for the <br />pool and natatorium. <br /> <br /> <br />
