Steven Glickert, 7750 Blackberry
Mr. Glickert said the ten lockers available in the men’s locker room are not adequate at the
present let alone increasing membership by offering it to non-residents. He also said that
having non-residents using the pool would require additional security personnel and
lifeguards.

Amy Slapshak, 7440 Stanford,
Ms. Slapshak liked University City for the small town feel yet in a metropolitan surrounding.
This would be negated with an overcrowded pool. She felt University City should have
made this change before pool passes were sold so residents could decide if they still
wanted to join.

Elsie Glickert, 6712 Etzel
Ms. Glickert stated there was never an initiative to open the pool to non-residents brought
to the University City Park Commission for discussion and analysis. She felt the City has
not marketed Heman Park pool within University City. She felt that changing from the
current 10 daily swim-passes for $50 to only offering 20 swim-passes for $100 was not
user-friendly. She felt this was not user friendly. Ms. Glickert would also like to see more
publicity about the availability of the natatorium in University City High School for public
swimming. She also suggested that all full time city and school employees be offered half
price memberships. Ms. Glickert questioned why the quarter cent sales tax funding,
previously passed, is not being used to fund the operation cost.

The Public Hearing was closed at 7:35 p.m.

CONSENT AGENDA
1. Bus transportation for Summer Youth and Teen Activity Program
This transportation would be for nine field trips plus inner city transportation from site to
City sites for swimming, tennis and golf. Recommendation was to award to low bidder,
First Student for $11,704.
2. Building Maintenance – HVAC Contract
It was recommended by the architectural firm, Trivers’ Associates, that the same
company (Trane) that installed the HVAC system should maintain it because they
would be familiar with the installation and warranties. The contract with Trane was not
to exceed $22,300.

The consent calendar was moved for approval by Ms. Brot, seconded by Mr. Glickert
and approved unanimously.

CITY MANAGER’S REPORT
1.
