Session 1843
June 3, 2002

Mr. Lieberman wished to comment on Mr. Wagner's earlier comments. This is an
ordinance that would be going into effect that would apply to all Laundromats in the City.
It would mean then that any Laundromat that is observing the laws and curfews could
then go to the City Manager and claim the same conditions exist and claim they also
want to be open for 24 hours. This is fine, but some of those Laundromats are not in
the same location as this one is. He believes that there would be a public outcry if the
staff, with reason, said a business could be open 24 hours. They would all be at the
very next Council meeting with complaints. He believes that Mr. Wagner makes a very
good point about the Council making the initial decision.

Mr. Munkel believes, as does Ms. Colquitt, that the bill should be defeated.

The question was called. The motion carried 4 to 3, with Mr. Munkel, Ms. Welsch and
Mayor Adams voting Nay.

Mayor Adams told Mr. Williams that the bill would be sent back to be modified.

CITIZEN COMMENTS REVISITED:

Mr. Leo MacDonald, Jr., 7372 Northmoor, asked if he could have the budget totals for at
least five account numbers. Mayor Adams suggested he get with Mr. Ollendorff for that
information after the meeting or tomorrow morning.

EXECUTIVE SESSION:

Ms. Colquitt moved to go into executive session per RSMo 610.021(2) and (3) to
discuss real estate and personnel matters. Mr. Munkel seconded the motion. The
executive session will begin at 8:15 p.m. in the second floor conference room of City
Hall. The roll call vote was as follows: AYES: Ms. Colquitt, Mr. Munkel, Mr. Wagner,
Mr. Lieberman, Ms. Welsch, Mr. Sharpe and Mayor Adams. NAYS: none.

ADJOURNMENT:

Mayor Adams announced that the next Council meeting would be on June 17, 2002 at
7:30 p.m. The meeting adjourned at 8:11 p.m. ~./~ j ~ I

L~e'sha Forsythe, City ClerK~ ·

9
