authorization to forward the letter. Please review the draft letter and let me know if you
disagree by August 21.

The Public Service Commission has proposed a new rule requiring extensive tree
cutting and record keeping by Ameren. There seems to be an understanding that
Ameren did not keep up with a reasonable schedule of tree trimming the last few years.
The draft rule appears to call for trimming/removing trees much more aggressively and
going on to private property to trim some trees within two years. St. Louis County
Municipal League Board President, Mayor of Hazelwood, T. R. Carr, sent a letter to the
PSC indicating that he had not had a chance to secure a board position on the matter.
He requested, however, that the Commission take a few weeks to explain the
implications to the public, allow the public to hear from utilities, and then make a
decision. There is widespread support for more tree trimming, under grounding and
better redundancy, but the scope and cost may need some review. Ameren also
forwarded a letter requesting the City ask the PSC to reconsider the mandate. I agree
with the League's assessment, but I will hold off responding until I receive direction from
Council.

The Dangerous Animal Citizen group forwarded minutes and their recommendation to
mirror the Olivette Ordinance. Both are attached.

*Reminder that the September 10 Council meeting is was moved to Tuesday,
September 4.

Upcoming Meetings and Events:

Saturday, August 18:
Monday, August 20:
Monday, August 20:
Friday, August 24:
Saturday, August 25:
Wed., August 29:

Tuesday, Sept. 4:
*Tuesday, Sept. 4:
Monday, Sept. 24:
Wednesday, Sept. 26:

Monday, Oct. 1:
Monday, Oct. 15:
Wed., October 24:

Monday, Nov. 5:
Tuesday, Nov. 27:

10:00 AM Police Dept Auction (west lot)
6:00 PM Special Council meeting
6:30 Study Session (Code Enforcement) EOC Room
5:30 PM Strategic Planning Session, Brookings Hall
8:30 AM to 12:30 PM Strategic Planning Session
7:00-9:00 PM Civic 101: Public Presentation on
Strategic Planning Initiatives By Julie Feier-EOC Rm.
5:30 Study Session (Collections)
6:30 Council Meeting
6:30 Council Meeting
7:00PM to 9:00 PM Civics 101: Public Presentation on
Ethics by Speaker Gerry Bruder-EOC Rm.
6:30 PM Council Meeting
6:30 Council Meeting
7:00 PM to 8:30 PM Civics1 01: Public Presentation on Do's
and Don'ts of being Public Servant by Attorney and civic
leader, Mondi Ghasedi-Council Chambers, 5th floor
6:30 PM Council Meeting
7:00 PM to 8:30 pm, Civics 101: Public Presentation on
Planning and Development by Community Development
Department Director Lehman Walker and Planning Staff-
EOC Rm.
