The <br />attendees reviewed the Goals and Initiatives set out by City Council during their August <br />strategic planning session <br />in light of the vision and recommendations of the Second <br />Century Commission. After reviewing population trends and the City’s financial situation <br />the group reviewed Council’s four goal areas: <br />1. Commercial and Retail Development. <br />? <br /> I 170 at Olive <br />? <br /> Olive Corridor <br />? <br /> Metro Link Station Developments <br />? <br /> Streetscape <br />2. Housing and Development that strengthens neighborhoods and encourages <br />growth. <br />? <br /> A proactive and energetic approach to expanding and redeveloping <br />housing with the community <br />? <br /> The approach must be sensitive to the varied neighborhood and housing <br />needs within the community <br />? <br /> The approach must not encourage “balkanization” or division within the <br />community <br />3. Financial Stability and Long Term Vitality <br />? <br /> Identification of options of service choices (levels and types of services) <br />? <br /> Identification of revenue generation options <br />? <br /> Education of the Council and Citizens on Choices for the Community <br />? <br /> Refocus the philosophy of the community to “pay as you go” <br />4. Streamlined and Strengthened Municipal Operations <br /> <br />
