The Sutter-Meyer farmhouse requires major work. The building needs:

?

two chimneys. The chimneys on the building collapsed during wind and
rainstorms during the past two years;
?

extensive plastering throughout the building;
?

spot tuckpointing on the outside of the building and on the hearth in the
living room;
?

plywood and asbestos-laden vinyl tile removal from the second floor
bedrooms;
?

refinished floors throughout the second floor;
?

refinished stairs from the main to the second floor;
?

shoring up of the kitchen floor, which has sunk a number of inches over
the years;
?

replacement of flooring on the first floor. The old pine flooring has been
worn and improperly sanded to a thickness of only 5/8”, with extensive
patching needed throughout;
?

new HVAC systems so that proper temperature and moisture control can
be maintained throughout the building;
?

patching on the roof to stop a leak into the kitchen and added-on
bathroom;
?

painting throughout the interior and exterior;
?

spot electrical updating throughout the building;
?

repair and/or replacement of sump pump in basement;
?

installation of accessible bathroom facilities;
?

some non-invasive retrofitting to make first floor of building fully-
accessible;
interior storm windows to make the building more energy-efficient, while protecting
the integrity and view of the historic windows throughout the building.

K-1-g
September 24, 2007
