Larry Ash, the Festival's Performance <br />Director, is working with the University City Loop Community Foundation members to <br />produce this year's performances. A wonderful selection of local dance groups and <br />choreographers will perform on this year’s Main Stage located on Leland, south of <br />Delmar, between Vintage Vinyl and Commerce Bank. More live performances will take <br />place on the Market in The Loop Stage. <br /> <br />On Thursday, September 20, the School Board met and heard a presentation about the <br />Homeless and Educational Larceny <br />District’s policies. In the 2006-2007 school year <br />there were 262 student who registered as homeless, entitling them to benefits Under <br />the McKinney-Vento Homeless Act. Of the 171 families involved, 158 families were <br />investigated for proof of homeless status. It was determined that 188 students were <br />homeless and 74 were not under the bill. Therefore, considered to be committing <br />educational larceny and removed from the District. The District also investigated 113 <br />additional students where there was supporting evidence of educational larceny. Of the <br />113 students, 82 were non-residents and were removed from the District. In addition to <br />last year’s success at reducing illegal students by 156, they instituted more stringent <br />policies at the start of this school year and the City is currently investigation 71 students <br />with “contingency” occupancy permits.
