Larry Ash, the Festival's Performance Director, is working with the University City Loop Community Foundation members to produce this year's performances. A wonderful selection of local dance groups and choreographers will perform on this year’s Main Stage located on Leland, south of Delmar, between Vintage Vinyl and Commerce Bank. More live performances will take place on the Market in The Loop Stage. On Thursday, September 20, the School Board met and heard a presentation about the Homeless and Educational Larceny District’s policies. In the 2006-2007 school year there were 262 student who registered as homeless, entitling them to benefits Under the McKinney-Vento Homeless Act. Of the 171 families involved, 158 families were investigated for proof of homeless status. It was determined that 188 students were homeless and 74 were not under the bill. Therefore, considered to be committing educational larceny and removed from the District. The District also investigated 113 additional students where there was supporting evidence of educational larceny. Of the 113 students, 82 were non-residents and were removed from the District. In addition to last year’s success at reducing illegal students by 156, they instituted more stringent policies at the start of this school year and the City is currently investigation 71 students with “contingency” occupancy permits.
