SESSION 1716

MINUTES OF THE UNIVERSITY CITY COUNCIL

FEBRUARY 23, 1998

At a regular meeting of the City Council of University City held in the Council Chamber
of City Hall on Monday, February 23, 1998, Mayor Joseph L. Adams called the meeting
to order at 7:30 p.m. In addition to the Mayor, the following members of the Council
were present:

Mr. Hardy Ware
Mr. Wayne I. Munkel
Mr. Robert Wagner
Mr. Larry Lieberman
Mr. Paul E. Schoomer
Mr. Arthur Sharpe, Jr.

Also present was City Manager Frank Ollendorff.

MINUTES:

Mr. Wagner moved approval of the minutes of February 9, 1998. Mr. Ware seconded
the motion, which carried unanimously.

CITY MANAGER'S REPORTS:

AGENDA #'1: RESIDENT ID CARD - SENIOR CITIZEN RATE:

Mr. Ollendorff agrees with the Park Commission recommendation that the senior citizen
fee for a resident ID card be reduced by one half to $2.50. The cards are required in
order to obtain discounted resident rates at various park and recreation facilities. In
most cases our senior residents have been in the community for many years and thus
very little review is needed before issuing the card. Mr. Ollendorff anticipates a revenue
loss of less than $2,000.

Mr. Wagner said that many of the senior citizens were very proactive in having this
charge reduced or even eliminated. This one-half discount is a compromise.

Mr. Wagner moved approval. Mr. Sharpe seconded the motion, which carried
unanimously.
