Council Agenda Item Cover <br />___________________________________________________________ <br />MEETING DATE: <br /> November 5, 2007 <br />AGENDA ITEM TITLE: <br /> Golf Pro Shop Network Infrastructure Improvements <br />AGENDA SECTION: <br /> Consent <br />CAN THIS ITEM BE RESCHEDULED? : <br />No <br />BACKGROUND REVIEW <br />: The City is in need of installation of network cabling <br />and VoIP phones to complete the Golf shop computer network connections. This <br />specific work required is cabling, labor, a network switch, cabinet and VoIP <br />phones and other materials to configure and install the equipment so the <br />applications and phones will connect to the City’s centralized voice and data <br />network. This is a one-time cost and at the end of this process, the Golf Shop <br />will be connected with phones and network capabilities as other City buildings. <br />This connection is also required to operate the Golf software program, previously <br />approved, as part of the entire recreation software system. The funds for this <br />project will be included in a transfer later it the year to completely move all golf <br />functions under City management. <br />The City has a current contract with Tech Electronics for cabling needs and this <br />firm is intimately knowledgeable of our network and phone systems. The cost for <br />the above cabling, labor and materials is $14,989. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Tech Electronics has completed several installations of <br />phone and data equipment for the City in the past. Therefore, it is recommended <br />that an award be made to Tech Electronics for $14,989.00 for installing network <br />cabling and VoIP phones. <br /> <br />
