Notes from Neighborhood Open House Ames <br />Place, Rosedale Heights and Parkview <br />May 4, 2016 <br />Summary of overall meeting <br />1. <br />a.Total attendees around 30, but 15 signed in <br />b.When asked who liked what option: <br />i.No change 4-5 people <br />ii.Wider ramp option 3 people <br />iii.Elbow option 20+ people <br />Questions and Concerns during presentation <br />2. <br />Design alternatives <br />a. <br />Wide ramp <br />i. <br />No comments specifically <br />1. <br />Elbow <br />ii. <br />Like the separation of the uses <br />1. <br />Like how the design slows cyclists down <br />2. <br />Greatly appreciate university doing a project like this <br />3. <br />Likes how forward thinking it is to design a project like this <br />4. <br />Small curb separating uses <br />iii. <br />Concerns with the low height and cyclists falling over it <br />1. <br />Idea to create a taller curb around the bends to provide <br />2. <br />additional safety <br />b.Tree and stormwater management <br />i.Concern with extra pavement with widening option <br />ii.Some attendees not happy cutting down trees <br />iii.Concern about reality of greening under elbow <br />c.Safety <br />i.David Howard stated he disagreed with the estimate on counts and <br />questioned the safety concerns on the bridge <br />ii.Two other attendees had personal safety stories; one was hit by a <br />cyclist and the other shared a couple near miss stories <br />iii. <br />elsewhere) creating a new safety issue <br /> <br />
