The proposed ramp is designed to separate users and reduce the speed of cyclists using the bridge
and ramp. Pedestrians will be served with a dedicated lane that includes stairs to access the bridge.
Cyclists and people with mobility challenges or pushing strollers will be provided with a designated
lane which will include a new elbow section. The elbow design will restrict cyclists from gaining
momentum and speeding down a long linear ramp. The three turns along the elbow will require
cyclists to slow down to make the turns. This design results in a ramp which is also 18 feet wide but
about 60 feet shorter than the existing ramp. Both the bicycle and pedestrian section of the ramp
maintain a 1:12 grade. (See Exhibit 2 for ramp details and comparisons to existing conditions.)

Additionally, the area underneath the newly constructed elbow portion would be improved with
irrigation, landscaping, lighting and hardscape to create an attractive, passive green space
surrounding the pedestrian-access staircase to the bridge.
Other ramp options were considered and presented to the community for comment and review. It
was determined that this option best addressed the expressed safety concerns of the users and the
community by reducing the speed of cyclists.
The proposed changes to the bridge and ramp will not increase the width of the walkway along
Greenway South.

tƩƚƦƚƭğƌ Ʒƚ ‘źķĻƓ ƷŷĻ tĻķĻƭƷƩźğƓ wğƒƦ Ʒƚ ƷŷĻ CƚƩĻƭƷ tğƩƉ tğƩƉǞğǤ .ƩźķŭĻ tğŭĻ А
