<br /> <br />MINUTES OF UNIVERSITY CITY COUNCIL <br /> <br />October 15, 2007 <br /> <br />At the Regular Session of the City Council of University City held in the Chambers of the <br />City Hall, on Monday, October 15, 2007, Mayor Adams called the meeting to order at 6:30 <br />p.m. In addition to Mayor Adams, the following members of the Council were present: <br /> <br /> Ms. Lynn Ricci <br /> Mr. Robert Wagner <br /> Mr. Michael Glickert <br /> Ms. Stefany Brot <br /> Mr. Arthur Sharpe, Jr. <br />Mr. Byron Price had an excused absence. <br />Also in attendance were City Manager Julie Feier and University City High School liaison, <br />Rachel Watson. <br /> <br /> <br />C. PROCLAMATION <br /> <br />1 <br /> . Mr. Sharpe, Jr. introduced Community Planning Month proclamation honoring <br /> University City’s Community Development department.” <br /> <br />2. <br />Honoring Public Safety Employees — Mayor Adams next acknowledged the <br />tremendous job University City Fire Department does and in particular the recent <br />rescue of an infant trapped in a burning house. He asked Fire Chief Steve <br />Olshwanger to step forward to present awards to staff involved in this rescue. Chief <br />Olshwanger briefly recapped the rescue which displayed the heroic action of two fire <br />men in particular along with the supporting crew. Mr. Rich Vernon of Bullard also <br />presented “To Save A Life Club” awards in conjunction with the use of their product, <br />the Thermal Imaging Unit which allowed the firefighters to see a visual image of a <br />body in a smoke filled area. The “Save A Life Club” has present 67 of these awards in <br />the United States, of which four were from Missouri. Of the four from Missouri, the <br />University City Fire Department has received two of these awards in separate <br />incidents. <br /> <br />D. APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br />1. September 24, 2007, study session minutes, as amended, were moved for approval <br /> by Mr. Sharpe, Jr., seconded by Mr. Glickert and were approved unanimously. <br />2. October 1, 2007, regular session minutes, as amended, were moved for approval by <br /> Ms. Ricci seconded by Mr. Sharpe, Jr., and was passed unanimously. <br />3. October 1, 2007, study session minutes, as amended, were moved for approval by <br /> Mr. Glickert, seconded by Ms. Brot, and was passed unanimously. <br /> <br />E. APPOINTMENTS <br />1. Hardy Ware was reappointed to the IDA commission by Mayor Adams, seconded by <br /> Mr. Wagner and approved unanimously. <br />2. Barak Corbett was reappointed to the Board of Appeals by Mayor Adams, seconded <br /> by Mr. Wagner and approved unanimously. <br />3. Although Mayor Adams had nominated City Manager Julie Feier to the TIF <br />Commission as a voting member due to her expertise, he announced that he had <br /> <br />
