Council Agenda Item Cover
___________________________________________________________
MEETING DATE:
December 3, 2007
AGENDA ITEM TITLE:
City CouncilResolution to Adopt and Enforce Olive
Boulevard Streetscape Standards
AGENDA SECTION:
New Business
CAN THIS ITEM BE RESCHEDULED? :
No
BACKGROUND REVIEW:
In September, 2004 the Public Works Department developed streetscape
standards for ornamental lighting, concrete paved sidewalks and shoulders, trees
and decorative tree grates and decorative fencing along Olive Boulevard. The
City has executed an agreement for maintenance of the streetscape on Olive
Boulevard within the city limits with the Missouri Department of Transportation
and St. Louis County that are agencies with jurisdiction along Olive Boulevard.
From time-to-time, certain private developers have refused to voluntarily comply
with the Olive Boulevard streetscape standards. Therefore, the attached
resolution will direct the Public Works Department to enforce the requirements of
the Olive Boulevard Standards per the attached document (known as "Olive
Boulevard Streetscape Standards" and labeled "Exhibit A") for all new
developments along Olive Boulevard under the approved guidelines and
standards therein. The term "new developments" shall mean any new primary
buildings that require a special use permit (either a "site plan review"
or "conditional use permit") under Title 34 of the Municipal Code.
RECOMMENDATION:
It is the recommendation of the Public Works Department that the attached
resolution be approved by the City Council.
