2. Sidewalks/Paving on Public Right-of- Way Requirements <br />General Requirements <br />A.. The sidewalks and right-of-way shall be paved <br />to promote the safety of persons using the sidewalks, right-of-way, or <br />other common facilities. Sidewalks and rights-of-way shall be constructed <br />of concrete and shall be provided along Olive and side street(s), if <br />applicable. Sidewalks and right-of-way shall be constructed in accordance <br />with the specifications established by the Director of Public Works. <br />Sidewalks and Right-of-Way Minimum Requirements <br />B.. <br />Entire right-of-way width <br />1. shall be paved with six-sack PCC concrete <br />withcolor and a light exposed aggregate finish having: <br />1) <br /> a minimum thickness of five inches and increased to seven inches <br />at driveway entrances; <br />2) <br /> a minimum of five (5) feet wide sidewalks with remaining right-of- <br />way paved; <br />3) <br /> expansion joint shall be placed between the sidewalk and shoulder, <br />and between the shoulder and curb, and shall be sealed with an <br />approved sealer; <br />4) <br /> expansion joints every twenty (20) feet and control joints every five <br />(5) feet transversely; <br />5) <br /> concrete mix to match MoDOT standard for 4” pavement with <br />addition of color; <br />6)shall be <br /> plans showing the sidewalk layout including joint layout <br />submitted for approval by the Director of Public Works. <br />2. <br />Concrete Materials. <br />General: Use the same brand and type of <br />cementitious material from the same manufacturer throughout the Project. <br />Refer to MoDOT concrete requirements.Maximum Aggregate Size: 3/4 inch <br />(19 mm) nominal.Do not use fine or coarse aggregates containing <br />substances that cause spalling. <br />3. <br />Admixtures. <br />General: Admixtures certified by manufacturer to contain not <br />more than 0.1 percent water-soluble chloride ions by mass of cement and to be <br />compatible with other admixtures. <br />Concrete Color: <br /> Pure, concentrated pigments made of high quality metal <br />oxides recycled from iron or refined from earth and specially processed for <br />mixing into concrete. Must comply with ASTM C979. Color additive to be <br />#5084, manufactured by Davis Colors. Color to be added at the rate of 1/16 <br />pounds per 94 pounds of type I or II cement. Use Davis Color liquid color <br />additive only. Use of disintegrating bags of color is prohibited <br />4. <br />Curing Materials. <br /> White Waterborne Membrane-Forming Curing <br />Compound: ASTM C 309, Type 2, Class B. <br />Colored Concrete Curing Compound <br />: Use “Color Seal II”, by Davis Colors, <br />in the same color of the concrete admixture. Use at the application rate <br />specified by the manufacturer. If additional finish to pavement is required, i.e., <br />sandblasting, apply colored curing compound after finish has been applied. <br /> <br />
