Related Materials. <br />5.Expansion-Joint-Filler Strips: ASTM D 1751, asphalt- <br />saturated cellulosic fiber. <br /> Concrete Mixes. <br />6.Prepare design mixes, proportioned according to ACI 211.1 <br />and ACI 301, for each type and strength of normal-weight concrete determined <br />by either laboratory trial mixes or field experience. Use a qualified independent <br />testing agency for preparing and reporting proposed mix designs for the trial <br />batch method. Do not use Owner's field quality-control testing agency as the <br />independent testing agency. Proportion mixes to provide concrete with the <br />following properties: <br />Compressive Strength (28 Days): 4000 psi (27.6 MPa). <br />Maximum Water-Cementitious Materials Ratio: 0.50. <br />Slump Limit: 4 inches (100 mm). <br />For Colored Concrete, use a lower water-content high performance mix design. <br />Submit mix design to Architect for approval. Uniformly disperse Synthetic Fiber <br />in concrete mix at manufacturer's recommended rate, but not less than 1.25 <br />lb/cu. yd. (0.75 kg/cu. m). Add coloring agent to mix according to <br />manufacturer's application rate for the specified color or as adjusted by the <br />Architect. <br />Concrete Finishing <br />7.. General: Wetting of concrete surfaces during <br />screeding, initial floating, or finishing operations is prohibited. <br />Light Exposed Aggregate Finish <br />: Lightly expose sands of the pavement <br />surfaces per approved mock-up as follows: Immediately after floating, spray- <br />apply chemical surface retarder to pavement according to manufacturer's written <br />instructions. Without exposing the aggregate, remove excess mortar by lightly <br />brushing surface with a stiff, nylon bristle broom. The surface shall remain <br />smooth and consistent in texture creating a sandy textured surface. No <br />aggregate shall be exposed. <br />8 Sidewalks and pedestrian ways shall be handicapped accessible. Curb <br />ramps shall be provided at sidewalk intersections, designed in accordance <br />with the standards of the Public Works Department. <br />9. Where sidewalks do not presently exist along Olive Boulevard and <br />adjacent side street(s), sidewalks shall be provided. The sidewalks should <br />be aligned with existing sidewalks. Alignment shall be approved by the <br />Director of Public Works. <br />Installation Expense, Maintenance and Operation <br />10. The installation <br />of concrete sidewalks and right-of-way areas shall be at the expense of <br />the developer. The maintenance of these areas shall be the responsibility <br />of the property owner. <br />REVISED 1/23/06 <br /> <br />
