At the start of the new fiscal year in July, parking control attendants will be hired to routinely ticket non-moving parking violators and will have a hand-held computer device to alert them if a vehicle has multiple tickets. Violators with four or more unpaid tickets will have their vehicle immobilized with a “boot”. The vehicle will remain immobilized until all outstanding fines and penalties are paid. Loop Ice Carnival The third annual will take place Jan. 19, 10 AM to 6 PM. The Ice Carnival will host snowboard bomb drop demos, a snowboard rail jam session, Red Bull Winch Session, Live Ice Carving Demo, Human Dog Sled Races, 5-K Frozen Buns Run, 10 Ice Sculptures, Chili Cook-Off, Winter Hat Contest, 2 Ice Slides for children, Tour vintage Loop Trolley hosted by our own Stefany and Fred Brot, Fire Performers, Ice Polar Bear & Ice Penguin photo ops, Snowball-Throwing Booths, Icebreaker Booths and more. The day’s events will be followed by live entertainment at every Loop venue. University Hills Women’s League On Thursday, women from the delivered over 175 Barbara C. Jordan Elementary School new and slightly used library books to the library . Principal Ms. Sandra Bell, the librarian Ms. Bonner and several children attended the presentation and had a great time talking about their favorite books and how the League can continue to help this wonderful school have a first class library for its children. In addition, the Women’s League had previously purchased over 30 books through the Scholastic Book Fair, and is raising money to purchase additional books through a matching grant program called the Literacy Project.
