<br />Mr. Wagner would like to review the arguments presented to the Retirement <br />Commissions and why they came to the conclusion that this was the right time to <br />increase the benefits with the City being concerned over their budget. He asked the City <br />Manager to distribute this requested information to the Council. <br /> <br />Ms. Brot asked for a study session as she felt it was a complex subject and she would <br />also like to see reports from the Actuary. She said the study session needed to discuss <br />options available for the City’s Pension system. <br /> <br />Ms. Ricci asked Ms. Watson to give statistics on how standard a cost of living increase <br />was given. She would also like to have Ms. Watson explain what the Lager System was. <br /> <br /> <br />L. CITIZENS’ COMMENTS <br />Marjorie Reilly, 7065 Pershing <br />Ms. Reilly thanked the Council, especially Mr. Wagner and Ms. Brot, for the Washington <br />University resolution. She was also concerned over her inability to put her recycle <br />containers to the street curb instead of the alley sue to the steep hill in the front of her <br />house. <br /> <br />M. COUNCIL COMMENTS <br /> <br />Ms. Brot reminded everyone of the dedication of the U.S. Post Office in University City in <br />honor of deceased Lt. Governor Harriett Woods on February 9. She also reminded <br />everyone to attend the Loop Carnival, January 19. She asked the City Manager and the <br />Finance Director if U City was going to try to obtain the new block grants (mentioned in <br />Council packet)available for innovative practices to achieve greater energy and efficiency, <br />especially with the City’s use of bio-diesel and single stream recycling. Ms. Brot also gave <br />thanks to Attorney Paul Martin and Kevin O’Keefe being able to obtain a judicial decision so <br />that cities could apply overtime payments to fire and police employees according to the <br />preferred Federal Law and not the newly legislated State Law. <br /> <br />Mayor Adams reminded everyone of <br />January 28, 2008, Study and Regular Council meetings <br /> <br />The meeting was adjourned at 8:50 p.m. Mr. Wagner moved to go into executive session <br />for RSMo 610.021, (1) and (2) legal and real estate, was seconded by Mr. Sharpe, Jr. and <br />was approved unanimously. <br /> <br />Roll Call vote: <br />Ayes: Mr. Price, Ms. Ricci, Mr. Wagner, Ms. Brot, Mr. Price and Mayor Adams. <br />Nays: None <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Joyce Pumm <br />City Clerk <br />
