The application of this principle will be reviewed on a regular basis.” <br /> <br /> <br />Vision Statement <br />Add to the Vision Statement (P. 28) <br />U City will work to establish itself as a leader in sustainable energy, recycling, air pollution reduction, <br />water conservation, storm water management, ecosystems and habitat management, sustainable land <br />use practices and green building upgrades. <br /> <br />Repeat Vison Statement in Parks, Open Space & Environment Features section (p. 73-78) <br />U City will work to establish itself as a leader in sustainable energy, recycling, air pollution reduction, <br />water conservation, storm water management, ecosystems and habitat management, sustainable land <br />use practices and green building upgrades. <br /> <br />Followed by Goal Statements <br />U City will set a goal of being energy net zero for city buildings and city owned transportation by <br />2025. The plan will include energy efficiency audits and renewable energy investments, following <br />the guidelines of the Energy Efficiency, Renewable Energy and Greenhouse Gas Reduction Policy <br />(Ordinance 6956) <br />U City will model cost effective energy sustainability for its residents and develop education <br />programs and financial resources to support residents in attaining the goal of household net zero <br />energy performance. <br />U City will develop a plan to reduce C02 emissions from its city fleet of vehicles as a strategy to <br />improve air quality. <br />U City will continuously review and improve its recycling and composting practices to increase <br />residential and business participation. <br />U City will work to provide environmental education on Ecosystems and work to restore natural <br />habitats using local expertise and enhance the improve land use and open spaces in the city. <br />U City will work to mitigate local flooding from the River Des Peres, better manage stormwater and <br />develop strategies to reduce potable water use. <br />U City will review its Green Building practices with an eye to incorporating guidelines and <br />components of LEED and Energy Star, as appropriate, in developing sustainable operations & <br />maintenance practices for existing buildings and facilities. <br />1 <br /> <br /> <br />
