University City Chamber of Commerce <br />FY18 EDRST PROPOSED PROJECT(REVISED): <br />CITY-WIDE ADVERTISING/MARKETING/ BRANDINGPROJECT <br />NOTE: This fiscal year, the Chamber of Commerce submitted a request of$36,000 for ACity-wide <br />Advertising and Marketing Campaign and a separate request of $33,000 for Regional Branding and <br />Tourism Attraction. The Economic Development Retail Sales Tax Board (EDRSTB) recommended that the <br />two applications be combined into one City-wide business marketing project, and the funding be reduced <br />from $69,000 to $50,000. <br />The Chamber of Commerceis submitting a revised project summary that meets the intent of the EDRSTB <br />recommendation. A more detailed marketing plan is attached. <br />1.Program or Project Summary(attach additional sheets if necessary) <br />Description of the Program or Project <br />. In addition to a detailed description of the project, include a <br />summary of the need for the program or project, goals and objectives, partners, and how the program or <br />project meets any City plans or policies. Describe the number of jobs to be createdby the specific <br />request, if any. <br />The Chamber is requesting fundstodevelop and implement advertisingandmarketing initiatives to <br />promote businesses throughout University City.Advertising and marketing are fundamentally <br />importantactivities needed to support businesssuccess,enhance community pride and engagement, and <br />attract visitors,additional consumers,new businesses and residents to our City.Attracting and engaging <br />all of these groupsarecriticalfor business retention and growth, the creation of new jobs, the health of <br />our tax base, and the overall economic stability and sustainability of our community. <br />The Chamber wouldagainliketo developand execute a robust,comprehensiveadvertising and <br />marketing plan that utilizes multiple print and digital media outlets in the St. Louis region in order to <br />capture the attention of as many consumers as possible.With funding, we plan to research, identify and <br />prioritize additional outlets and target populations to broaden awareness and reach of our marketing. <br />We also plan to more fully utilize additional free or cost-effective calendar listings throughout the <br />region to increase both reach and awareness. The marketing plan(attached) identifiesprint, digital, <br />visual and social media marketing products and campaignsto be implemented with the requested funds, <br />including: <br />Visual advertising via the production of at least another three videos to continuing to build a <br />library of marketing materials that can be used in a variety of media for multiple purposes in <br />perpetuity. In addition, we will reserve funds for television adsto promote annual city-wide <br />event(s). <br />Extend ad-marketing reach to target the nearly 3 million tourists who visit St. Louis annually. <br />Advertise businessdistricts throughout U Cityin the St. Louis Visitor’s Guide and Explore St. <br />Louis Convention Centers.Develop a print adfor the St. Louis Visitors Guide (350,000 copies <br />printed annually) and produce 5,000 brochures featuring an All-U City Map and the Olive Link <br /> <br />
