Mr. Munkel seconded the motion and it passed <br />unanimously. The roll call votes was as follows: AYES - Mr. Lieberman, Ms. <br />Welsch, Mr. Sharpe, Ms. Colquitt, Mr. Munkel, Mr. Wagner and Mayor Adams. <br />NAYS - none. Bill number 8669 passed unanimously and became ordinance <br />number 6438. <br /> <br />4. Ms. Colquitt introduced bill number 8670, entitled: <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 9.08 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE, <br />RELATING TO OFFENSES AGAINST PUBLIC PEACE AND DECENCY, BY <br />ENACTING THEREIN NEW SECTIONS TO BE KNOWN AS SECTION 9.08.260 <br />UNLAWFUL HOUSING PRACTICES-DISCRIMINATION IN HOUSING," <br />SECTION 9.08.270 DISCRIMINATION IN PUBLIC ACCOMODATIONS <br />PROHIBITED-EXCEPTIONS," AND "SECTION 9.08.280 UNLAWFUL <br />EMPLOYMENT PRACTICES-EXCEPTIONS;" CONTAINING A SAVINGS <br />CLAUSE AND PROVIDING A PENALTY. <br /> <br />The bill was given its first reading and was assigned number 8670. <br /> <br />Mr. Munkel questioned 9.08 and wondered if it was a true amendment, <br />and Mr. Ollendorff provided its history, advising that similar ordinances <br />were passed in the 1970's, but never entered into the Municipal Code. <br />This version includes language to reflect current state law. Then Mr. <br />Munkel asked why it was amending something never codified, but Mr. <br />Ollendorff explained that 9.08 is an existing chapter. This ordinance adds <br />three new sections to this chapter. In the interest of time, Mr. Ollendorff <br />agreed to meet with Mr. Munkel to clarify this matter. <br /> <br />5.
