Session 1896 <br />September 4, 2003 <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 8.12 OF THE UNVIERSITY CITY <br />MUNICIPAL CODE, RELATING TO GARBAGE COLLECTION AND DISPOSAL, <br />BY REPEALING SECTION 8.12.200 THEREOF, RELATING TO THIS <br />SCHEDULE OF REFUSE COLLECTION CHRGES, AND ENACTING IN LIEU <br />THEREOF A NEW SECTION TO BE KNOWN AS "SCTION 8.12.200 <br />SCHEDULE OF REFUSE COLLECTION CHARGES," THEREBY AMENDING <br />SAID SECTION SO AS TO INCREASE MONTHLY REFUSE RATES <br />EFFECTIVE SEPTEMBER 1, 2003, TO COVER THE COST OF PROVIDING <br />THE SERVICES; CONTAINING SAVINGS, SERVERABILITY, AND PROVIDING <br />A PENALTY. <br /> <br />This bill was given its first reading and assigned number 8673. <br /> <br />Mr. Ollendorff directed Council members to note page 5 which list the current <br />rates and page 6 which lists the proposed rates, representing a 5 per cent <br />increase, or .60 cents per month. The senior rate will increase .20 cents per <br />month. Rates charged for tax-exempt properties has doubled, as shown in the <br />schedules, in order to charge the maximum fees justified. <br /> <br />MISCELLANEOUS COMMENTS <br /> <br />Mr. Ollendorff advised the need to schedule a briefing during September on the <br />Olive Enhancement Projects, suggesting it be held at 6:15 pm on the date of the <br />regular meeting on September 29, 2003. Dinner will be included. <br /> <br />Ms. Welsch mentioned that there are mixed feelings in the community about the <br />"Doggie Day at the Pool", but that it seemed to be successful. <br /> <br />ADJOURNMENT <br /> <br />Mayor Adams announced that the next regular Council meeting will be held on <br />September 29, 2003 at 7:30 pm.
