Session 1898
September 29, 2003

Downing Sales ............
AmeriKan ...............

$17,775.00
$22,311.75

Mr. Ollendorff advised that the Containers bid from MWC did not meet our
specifications: therefore it is requested that the award be made to Downing Sales for
their bid of $17,775.00.

Ms. Welsch moved to approve the consent calendar; Mr. Munkel seconded the motion,
which carried unanimously.

AGENDA ITEM #2 -VACATING OF ALLEY:

A public hearing has been set for 7:30 p.m. this date in this place to consider the
proposed vacating of an unimproved section of a public alley located east of
Pennsylvania Avenue and north of Olive Boulevard, between 1063 Roth Avenue and
6975 Olive Boulevard.. This alley does not appear to be used or useable by anyone
other than the two adjacent owners, thus public ownership need not continue.
Following the public hearing, the City Council may wish to request preparation of an
ordinance to vacate this public right-of-way.

Mayor Adams declared the public hearing open at 7:40 a.m., but since no citizen was
there to speak on this issue, he then declared the public hearing closed.

CONSENT CALENDAR ITEM # 4 (Request for Discussion):

New Equipment for Fitness Center: Invitations to bid were issued for the above
equipment. $29,000 was budgeted for equipment. The following bids were received:

Bid
Fitness Showcase ....................... $51,097.00
The Fitness Store ........................ $45,603.00
Commercial Fitness Solutions ..... $38,125.00
Fitness & Rehab ........................... $38,037.00
Advanced Exercise Equipment ..... $43,884.85

Alternate

$41,095.00
$47,791.00

The Iow bid from Fitness Rehab did not meet the specifications. Therefore, Mr.
Ollendorff recommended the purchase from Commercial Fitness Solutions for their bid
of $38,125.00. The grant will cover this purchase since other items were below budget.

Mr. Ollendorff said that as far as the items set for discussion were concerned, he
recommended for Council approval the Iow bid for the purchase of new equipment for
the fitness center because it meets all of the City's specifications, including all desired
equipment, and is the only complete bid.

Page 3
