Session 1900
November 3, 2003

CITIZEN COMMENTS:

Bert Sterbenz, 7000 Cornell Avenue, who is President of U City People for Dogs, Inc.,
thanked the City Council for their support of this private-public partnership that has
licensed 405 dogs as members. He stated that the nearly one-acre large dog park area
will open soon, noting that more than $17,500 have been raised for this project. It has
become a social gathering place for both dogs and their owners, has fostered new
friendships, and has created one of the first dog parks in St. Louis City and County.
University City again demonstrated leadership in service to its citizens. The Puppy Pool
Party, a fundraiser held in Heman Park this fall, was a great success.

Sandy Schenck, 7301 Stanford, Vice-President of U City People for Dogs, Inc., said that
the Puppy Pool Party drew 210 dogs to the event, exceeding expectations and raising
$2300 for the event, more than all of their previous fund raisers combined. It drew
participants for all parts of the City and County, as well as Illinois, and further-afield in
Missouri counties and municipalities. An unexpected bonus was making more
University City residents aware of the outstanding pool facility and thereby gaining their
support for its renovation. The event drew television, print media coverage, and
demonstrated a successful, innovative event. He thanked University City staff,
especially Cheryl Thompson, and said U City People for Dogs, Inc., would like to repeat
the event next year.

Mr. Wagner commended Mr. Sterbenz and Mr. Schenck for their innovation, success,
and for sharing revenues with the City, but commented that repeating the event next
year was still under consideration, because the event this year was meant to be a one-
time only event.

LEGISLATIVE DOCKET

Bills For Second And Third Readinqs:

BILL NO. 8687 - APPROVING A FINAL SUBDIVSION PLATOF A TRACT
OF LAND TO BEKNOWN AS "VILLAS AT NOB HILL" AND AT 1100 EIGHTY
FIRST STREET.

The bill was given its second reading
The bill was given its third reading.

Mr. Wagner moved to adopt, and Ms. Weslch seconded the motion.
