Session 1903 - Study
December 6, 2003

owned and the duties of property owners in respect of trees, which will become
major policy issues. This issue will be revisited after the Council and City staff
has thoroughly studied all of the implications of this proposed ordinance.

A,qenda Item #10 - Heman Park Recreational Facility

Mr. Ollendorff provided an update on this project and an explanation of the
"buildable areas" as requested by Councilmember Welsch. Along with the
packet of written information, including plans and diagrams presented, Mr.
Ollendorff advised that the procedure followed was step-by-step: the designers
met with the staff a few times to clarify issues, then prepared drawings and
alternatives, then met with staff again, and at the third meeting they produced the
materials before Council today. He advised further that all interested citizen
groups will be allowed to review the plans for this project.

Further discussion centered upon features of the plans as presented by Mr.
Ollendorff and challenges such as the inability to fit a six-lane running track in the
design. It was also announced that a pedestrian walkway would be built in the
area of the old Purdue bridge, which will be removed.

Adjournment

Mayor Adams adjourned the Study Session at 1:40 p.m.

Leisha Meine Forsythe, City Clerk

Page 4
